First post!! yeeee
This is gonna be pretty long...but i've added some photos for visual relief!
So, to be completely honest, I haven't done much more than stuff my face and lay like a sloth since I got home from school. I spent the last 10 days in Hawaii with my best friend from Japan and her family, who all eat like 5 times more than I do (which is a lot). Her mom cooked for us about 5 times a day. Hotdogs were considered snacks. Needless to say, I feel a lil more pudge keepin me warm round the midsection these days. I swam some laps in the pool and did active things in the ocean everyday, and managed to throw in some ab work once in a while. I also went skydiving for the first time! Twas awesome.
But I will shamefully admit I missed the first four days of workouts..... which will be made up for in full now that I am home!
A few minutes after I got home today, I beat my jetlag and went out for my first real run in weeks. meh. rough rough. Ran up the west side highway and back down by the Hudson river (I live in Manhattan in NYC) while the sun set, which was quite prettayy. Ran for about an hour. Did some lunges at the end then stretched. It's obvious I need serious work and I will suffer for my lack of fitness-maintenance with this week's workouts. Here are some pics of the river during the sun set:
I've also decided that music can make or break my runs. In today's case, shuffle mode on my iPod did well. I've come to the conclusion that 90's pop is more motivational than the club music I usually exercise to. NSYNC, Britney, Backstreet Boys, Aaliyah, etc. Also, I rediscovered the wonders of Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega. Lastly, I urge you to try running to the Hamster Dance.....twas actually quite helpful in making me pick up the pace in the last stretch of my run. Don't judge me. It's catchy.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
