Helpful Tips

Hey I realize that doing workout on your own is really different from working out with the team. For me specifically, its harder to focus because I don't have another physical body cheering me on. I can rest when I want and punk out of doing a workout if I want, although so far I'v kept up with my workouts. Anyway, doing the hill set was really tough. There were times were I would kinda do three burpies, putzy around for a minute or two before doing the next few. Why did I do this? Because I started to lose focus. I'd let the tiredness of my body get to me. So there are elements of discipline and focus that I am now developing. Working out among people is easier to do because you can feed off the energy of others, but being on your own is a whole nuther ball game. At least that's true for me. Anyway I'm writing this to give ya'll tips of how to keep focus. Maybe it would be helpful maybe not. If not at least you'd get a good laugh.

1) Clap eight beats out loud. As if you're in a dance routine. If you're a dancer imagining the count of 5-6-7-8 will compel you to keep the beat and continue on with your workout. This is especially useful if you're doing things like push ups or burpies. Working in a rhythm helps keeps the mind off physical discomforts and pushes you to go farther.

2)Smack that booty. Yeah, that's right. Give a good slap to the thigh to snap your mind out of that la la land and your mozying about that final lap or last set. I do have mixed feelings about this one though cause it might work for some or just add more pain for others. Use accordingly and don't overwork it.

3) Talk to your self. Sometimes you are your own best coach.

4) Take everything at the pace you can do. If you start off fast, but then slow down as you do a set, let yourself slow down. Now here, evaluate what it means for you to slow down. Are you punking out or do you lack endurance? If you're punking out you better keep on going, but if you're really reaching a limit, then slow down. For me I have found that slowing down just means that I have to work on my endurance and that I can work up to faster pace later on. Pushing yourself and pushing yourself to keep the same speed may cause you to overwork yourself, which may later discourage you from working out. I'm not saying don't push yourself, but you know how far you can go. If you have to take baby steps to do it, then do it. You can always build up the area that you're lacking in.

Overall these are tips that I found particularly helpful for me and I wanted to share them with you. Maybe they're helpful maybe they're not. Try them and you tell me.
